Yacht Stew Career Guidance
One-to-one career guidance for aspiring and current yacht stewards and stewardesses.
- Understand the industry.
- Make better career decisions.
- Make your years in yachting count.
Your yachting career is too short for years of trial and error.
You don’t need to have your whole career mapped out.
But the jobs you take, the training you pay for and the experience you build now can shape what you do next.
A few good decisions early on can save you time, money and possibly some very expensive mistakes.
20+ years onboard
I’ve been lucky to have a long career in yachting.
When I started, I had no idea it would turn into more than twenty years in the industry.
It hasn’t been one straight career path either. I’ve quit yachting three times, changed roles, taken breaks and come back with a different perspective.
I didn’t always know my worth, make the best career decisions or know what would matter later.
What I do have now is a good understanding of what’s expected onboard today, what has changed, and what still matters.
This perspective is what I bring to career guidance for other yacht stews.
so much advice
There’s plenty of yachting advice. That doesn’t mean it’s right for you.
The hard part isn’t finding information. It’s knowing what is current and actually applies to you.
What applies to you?
Advice depends on your experience, goals and current situation.
What’s current?
The industry changes. Some advice simply hasn’t kept up.
What’s worth it?
Courses, qualifications and career moves can cost a lot of time and money.
- Yachting is an expensive industry to misunderstand.

Questions
A few things you might be wondering
I can’t promise you a job — and I’d be wary of anyone who does.
What I can do is help you understand where you’re competitive, identify what may be holding your job search back and make sure you’re focusing your effort in the right places.
Maybe. But more training isn’t automatically better.
We’ll look at the training you already have, the jobs you’re targeting and whether another course is genuinely likely to improve your opportunities.
It can actually be one of the best times to get it.
Before spending thousands on training, travel and accommodation, it makes sense to understand the industry you’re planning to enter and what you realistically need to get started.
Yes.
Career guidance can be particularly useful when you’re deciding what role to take next, whether to stay where you are, what experience you need, whether further training is worthwhile or how to progress within the interior department.
That’s fine. Sometimes one decision is exactly what needs sorting out.
We can start with that question and look at the bigger picture only where it’s useful.
Yes. Your session is private and what you share with me is treated confidentially.
Make your years in yachting count.
Your career doesn’t need to follow a perfect plan.
But understanding the industry and making better decisions along the way can help you get far more from the years you spend onboard.
